Text Messaging Disclosures
SMS Terms & Privacy
How text messaging with Alliston Estate Planning works: your consent, your opt-out choices, message and data rates, and how your mobile information is protected.
Effective Date: September 30, 2026
Last Updated: September 30, 2026
These SMS Terms & Privacy (“SMS Terms”) explain how Alliston Estate Planning, PLLC (“Alliston Estate Planning,” the “Firm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) sends and receives text messages, what information is involved, and the choices available to you. They apply whenever you provide a mobile telephone number and agree to receive text messages from the Firm, including through our website forms, by telephone, in person, or by replying to a message from us.
These SMS Terms work together with our Privacy Policy and our Website Disclaimer. If a text message relates to an existing client matter, the Firm’s engagement agreement and applicable professional confidentiality obligations also apply.
Opt-In Consent
By providing your mobile telephone number and opting in to receive text messages from Alliston Estate Planning, you give express written consent to receive conversational and informational text messages related to your inquiry, consultation request, or Firm services, including messages sent using automated technology or a text-messaging platform.
Consent is not a condition of purchasing any good or service, and it is not a condition of requesting or receiving legal services from the Firm. You may choose email, telephone, or postal mail instead.
Opt-in methods include checking a consent box or submitting a form on this website, providing your mobile number during an intake or consultation, or replying to a message from a Firm number after being asked whether you would like updates by text.
Messages We May Send
Text messages from the Firm may include:
- Confirmation and reminders for consultations and meetings;
- Messages regarding your inquiry or consultation request;
- Document, signature, and e-signature notifications;
- Requests for information needed for your matter;
- Appointment rescheduling or cancellation messages;
- Answers to questions you send us by text; and
- Occasional Firm notices, event invitations, or program information.
Message Frequency, Rates, and Carriers
Message frequency varies. Most clients receive only a few messages related to a specific inquiry or matter. Standard message and data rates may apply, and the charges for a text message may appear on your wireless bill or be deducted from your prepaid balance.
All carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. As with email and telephone calls, delivery of a text message cannot be guaranteed. If you do not receive a message you expected, contact the Firm using the information in the Contact Us section below.
Wireless carriers and text-messaging providers are not parties to any agreement with the Firm regarding these messages and do not endorse the Firm.
How to Opt Out
You may stop receiving text messages from Alliston Estate Planning at any time. Reply STOP to any message from the Firm. You may also reply CANCEL, END, QUIT, or UNSUBSCRIBE, and each of those words will be treated the same as STOP.
Reply HELP for assistance, or contact the Firm directly and ask to be removed from text messaging. Opt-out requests are processed promptly, and in any event within ten (10) business days. You may receive one final confirmation message confirming your opt-out.
Opting out of text messaging does not cancel any other communication you have requested, and it does not by itself revoke consent for telephone calls, email, or postal mail.
Changing or Withdrawing Consent
You can change your mobile number or withdraw consent for future text messages at any time by replying STOP, by telling any member of the Firm by email or telephone, or by writing to us at the address below. Withdrawing consent does not undo messages already sent, and the Firm may still contact you by other means or as required to administer a matter in which you are involved.
Information Involved in Text Messaging
The information involved in our text messaging program generally includes your mobile telephone number, your name, the content of the messages exchanged, the date and time of each message, and the consent or opt-out record associated with your number.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the categories of information sharing described in these SMS Terms and in our Privacy Policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, except aggregators and providers of the text message campaign as necessary to deliver the messages.
The Firm does not sell your mobile information or your text-message consent.
Confidentiality and Text Messaging
Text messages are convenient, but they are not a fully secure channel. Please avoid sending confidential, privileged, highly sensitive, or time-sensitive information by text. If a message you send contains information about a potential legal matter, the Firm may respond by asking you to continue by email, telephone, or a secure portal.
Message records may be retained for Firm administrative, compliance, and record-retention purposes, and may be disclosed where required by law or professional obligation as described in our Privacy Policy.
No Legal Advice by Text
Text messages from the Firm are administrative and informational. They do not constitute legal advice for any individual situation, and nothing exchanged by text creates an attorney-client relationship. Please review our Website Disclaimer.
Changes to These SMS Terms
These SMS Terms may be updated from time to time. Revisions are posted on this page and reflected in the “Last Updated” date above; changes become effective when posted.
